Backgammon

Goal: Bear off all 15 of your checkers before your opponent.

• Move: Your checkers travel in one direction toward your home board. Select a checker, then a highlighted destination matching a die.
• Blocked points and hits: You cannot land on a point occupied by two or more opposing checkers. Landing on a single opposing checker (a blot) hits it to the BAR.
• BAR priority: If you have a checker on the BAR, you must re-enter it into the opponent's home board before moving any other checker. A blocked entry cannot be played.
• Dice: Doubles provide four moves. Use both dice when possible; if only one unequal die can be used, you must use the larger die.
• Bearing off: You may begin only when all 15 checkers are in your home board and none is on the BAR. Use an exact die when available. An oversized die may bear off the farthest checker only when no checker remains on a higher point.
• Scoring: A Normal win is worth 1 point. A Gammon is worth 2 when the loser has borne off no checker. A Backgammon is worth 3 when the loser has borne off none and still has a checker on the BAR or in the winner's home board.
• Keyboard: Expand Keyboard navigation, Tab into the board navigator, use Arrow keys to move, Enter or Space to select, and Escape to cancel.
